NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca Nazarene University women's basketball coach Gary Van Atta has added Christ Presbyterian Academy's Anna Mitchell to his 2010-2011 recruiting class.

Mitchell, a 5-foot-10 forward, is a four-time All-District and All-District Tournament honoree. As a senior she was honored as the Region 5AA Tournament MVP.

Van Atta acknowledges the talent and legacy connection that brings Mitchell to Trevecca, "Anna is a perfect fit for Trevecca spiritually, academically, and athletically. I know she is excited about being the third member of her family to graduate from Trevecca (father, brother). I like her versatility as a basketball player; she can play several positions."

Mitchell's father (Mike) and brother (Dean) played for Trevecca's baseball program.

The team co-captain helped lead her team to the TSSAA State Tournament in her senior year. The two-sport standout is CPA's all-time career leading scorer in girls basketball with 1490 points.

Mitchell was selected to play in the 2010 Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee (BCAT)/Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association (TACA) East-West All-Star basketball game.

Two more prestigious awards were given to Mitchell: the AD Hancock-Walter Nipper basketball sportsmanship award and the Moss-Oliver basketball award. The latter is given to the top Davidson County female scholar-athlete in basketball.

In volleyball, Mitchell served as the middle blocker on two TSSAA state volleyball tournament teams at CPA.
