COOKEVILLE -- Ashley Randolph, a product of Cookeville (Tenn.) High School, will play for Trevecca and women's golf coach Michael Johnson.

Randolph joins fellow Lady Cavalier teammate Sarah Jo Dixon, already signed to play for the Trojan golf program.

"It's exciting," Randolph said of getting play again with Dixon. "It's less scary because you know someone already, and it's not just to play golf with but to go to school with, too."

Randolph and Dixon played for Kevin Bray at Cookeville High.

Randolph won the District 6-AAA Tournament with an 80 at WillowBrook Golf Club and fell a stroke short of the TSSAA State Tournament as a senior.

She finished third in the 14-17 division of the 2008 Putnam County Junior Championship, second in 2007 and third in 2006. In other play she f inished second at the Upper Cumberland Amateur on the Ironwood course. At the TGA Event at Southern Hills she finished second with a 78.

Trojans coach Michael Johnson said he sees great potential in Randolph's game, and believes she will be a great character person as well.

"She has demonstrated an ability to shoot good scores," Johnson said. "But at Trevecca, we're looking for a total student athlete profile to work from, and Ashley and her family certainly represent that.

"I had no idea when I was here a few months ago signing Sarah Jo that anything like this would work out, but I'm thrilled," he continued. "Cookeville High School has been very good to Trevecca this year, especially women's golf."

Randolph -- who plans to major in chemistry -- is also excited about the academic side of Trevecca along with the campus.

"I'm not just excited about the golf; this school was the prettiest campus I've been on," Randolph said. "I talked to the chemistry head over there, and she was really nice and I'm really excited about having classes with her."
