NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca women's golf coach Michael Johnson has added Grundy County High School product Loren Pickett to is latest signing class.

Coach Johnson feels Pickett could have an instantaneous impact as a freshman, "Loren has a great chance to step in and be a major contributor to our team immediately. She has the capacity to be  long off the tee, and she knows how to compete.  Plus, she's just a real sweet, fun person to have around."

Pickett, from Monteagle, Tenn., was coached by Louie Ladd at Grundy County. Pickett was the medalist at the 2007 District 6A-AA tournament, played at WillowBrook Golf Course. The Chattanooga Times-Free Press named her to the Best of the Preps golf team in 2007. In 2009 Pickett placed third at the TGA Junior event at the Moccasin Bend Golf Club with a 78. Pickett scored a 78 and third place finish at the TGA Junior Tour event at WillowBrook Golf Course. Pickett was the medalist at the 2009 WillowBrook Invitational with an 81.

"I chose Trevecca College because of its beautiful campus and environment," said Pickett. "I would also like to acknowledge my instructor for the past four years, Barry Bishop, the PGA professional at Willowbrook Golf Course. He has been rock solid as far as encouraging, teaching, and believing in me and making me believe I could play at the college level. He will continue to be my personal instructor during my college time as well."
