NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca baseball coach Jonathan Burton has signed PJ Francescon for the 2010-2011 season. Francescon is a product of Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn. and Middle Tennessee State University.

The 6-foot pitcher from Nolensville (Tenn.) was  four-year letter winner for Scott Hord and Lee Vaughn at Ravenwood. There he was an All-Midstate selection as a junior striking out 95 in 66 innings pitched with a 1.60 earned run average. He also was an All-District selection in 2006 and was voted to the District All-Tournament team as a sophomore and junior.

Currently he is pitching for the Nashville Outlaws in the Prospect League. He has posted a 0.93 earned run average in two starts with 11 strikeouts in 9.2 innings pitched. He's allowed just one earned run and three walks. The team plays their games at Vanderbilt's Hawkins Field www.nashvilleoutlaws.com

Burton said, "PJ is a big pickup for us and he will provide an immediate impact for us on the weekends. He has the ability to control the game from the first pitch and I know he will embrace his role on our team."

"Playing for the Outlaws in the Prospect league has given him a chance to face quality competition which will pay dividends for himself and for our team next season. We have been excited to see his success and know he is continuing to learn from each start."

At MTSU, Francescon pitched two years. As a freshman he pitched in 11 games with six starts. He produced 17 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched. In his injury-shortened sophomore season he was limited to just one start and two appearances and had five strikeouts in seven innings pitched. He sat out the 2010 season.
