NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca baseball coach Jonathan Burton has added Lambuth University transfer Mitchell McClay to his 20010-2011 roster. McClay, originally from Carterville, Ill., was named to the All-Conference Tournament team for the Eagles last season.

"Mitch is a bonus for us this season. I wish we could have him for more than one year but we are excited to get him when we did," said coach Burton. "He really does a nice job of seeing the whole field and has a very good swing. He will give us an immediate boost in the middle as well and we are hoping he continues to put up the same kind of numbers he has been doing for several years."

As a junior last season at Lambuth University he hit .377 with 27 doubles, four home runs, and 45 RBI. He helped the Eagles to a 40 win season and to the Championship game of the A.I.I (Association of Independent Institutions) Tournament.

The 6-foot-one outfielder is the all-time homerun leader for the Marion Bobcats of the KIT League. In the Summer of 2009 he was second on the team with a .293 batting average. Over 48 games that season he produced five doubles, three home runs, 15 runs, and 13 RBI. In 2008 he played in 45 games and had seven doubles, a home run, and 20 RBI. This summer, playing for the Fulton Railroaders of the KIT League, he is hitting .342 in 44 games with seven homeruns, 11 doubles, 39 runs, 14 stolen bases, and 34 RBI. The summer he was selected to play in the KIT League All-Star game. In 2009 he was an honorable mention selection to the KIT League All-Star team.

He played his first two years of collegiate ball for Upper Iowa University, there he was named to the Northern Sun All-Academic Team as a sophomore.
