NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca baseball coach has signed Chattanooga State Community College product Michael Maxwell for the 2010-2011 season. Maxwell, a 5-foot-nine outfielder, is from Miami, Fla. where he played for Mandy Paleaz at Miami Sunset Senior High.

"Michael is going to be a good fit for us. He will provide us with consistency to our offensive scheme," said coach Burton. "He is a very tough nosed kid that does a lot of different things very well and can play several positions. He is going to provide the top of our lineup with a lot of options."

At Chattanooga State he played for Greg Dennis producing a .404 batting average with 65 hits in 161 at bats as a sophomore last season. He helped lead Chattanooga State to its first-ever Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. For the season he compiled 10 doubles, three triples, 37 runs, 41 RBI, and 21 stolen bases. He also carried an impressive .459 on base percentage.

For his efforts at Chattanooga State he was named the 2010 Conference Player for Division 7 NJCAA and was selected to the All-Conference First Team.

Before transferring to Chattanooga State he spent his freshman year playing for Tennessee Temple University, also in Chattanooga.

He played for Miami Dade Sunset Senior High where he was named Honorable Mention All-Dade County as a senior.
