HENDERSON, Tenn. - Cassidy Watkins of Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University has been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference's volleyball player of the week for the week ending Aug. 29, 2010.

The 5-foot-9 sophomore outside hitter from Tuscon, Ariz., opened the season with a 22-kill, 11-dig performance against Bryan (Tenn.) College in a 3-1 win.  She later followed with a solid all-around effort against Milligan (Tenn.) College posting 14 kills, 22 digs and six aces in a 3-2 loss and finished the week with 16 kills against Southern Virginia University.

For the week, Watkins averaged 3.7 kills and 2.8 digs per set in four matches.  She also totaled 10 aces.

Trevecca Nazarene is 2-2 on the season. Trevecca finished second in the TranSouth last season and is picked to finish third in the preseason coaches' poll.
