NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trojan volleyball (2-3) team opened up TranSouth conference play Thursday night at Moore Gym, losing their home opener in four games to Bethel University (1-1) 21-25, 22-25, 25-18, and 16-25.
The Trojans jumped out to 3-0 leads in each of the first two games, but Bethel managed to pull out close wins in both games. Trevecca bounced back with an impressive win in game three, before the Wildcats finished off the match in the fourth and final game.
Cassidy Watkins paced the attack with 13 kills, and added 10 digs. Brooke Cannon had 30 assists and five digs, Haley White had 23 digs and Shelby Sorce added 17 digs. Maddie Burford played a solid all-around game, with 9 kills, a .438 hitting percentage, five block assists, two digs, and two assists.
Next up for the Trojans is their opening match in the Scott Jones Classic, Friday night at 7 p.m. against Lindsey Wilson (1-4). Saturday, Trevecca plays Milligan College (3-1) at 9 a.m., Brescia University (0-1) at 1:00 p.m., and Cumberland University (5-0) at 5:00 p.m.
