NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca baseball coach Jonathan Burton has announces Ryan Whitson of John Overton (Nashville) High School has signed to play for the Trojans this season. Whitson is transferring to Trevecca from Dyersburg (Tenn.) State Community College and will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Trojans.
The 6'2" pitcher was a two year player for the Robert White coached Eagles. The Eagles finished second in the Tennessee Junior College. In his two years at Dyersburg Whitson produced a 11-4 record. He was 7-2 as a freshman and was 4-2 as a sophomore. He pitched 24 innings last season and had 27 strikeouts and 11 walks.

Coach Burton says, "We are excited that Ryan has joined us here late in the summer. He is capable of lifting up our bullpen on the weekend while giving us solid mid-week starts. He'll play a big role this year and has the JUCO experience to help our staff achieve our necessary goals for success."
Was apart of the 2005 Overton Bobcat baseball team that finished runner-up in the 3A TSSAA State Championship.
Whitson is the sixth player to sign for the 2008-2009 recruiting class. The class includes transfers Tim Dunn (John A. Logan College), Matt Lyle (Calhoun Community College), Trey Morrison (Dyersburg State Community College), and Jeff Hughes (Austin Peay State University).
