Francescon, who started the season with the AZL Cubs, moved up to
the Cubs Low Single-A team in Peoria, Ill. after just one appearance with the rookie league team.
The
early move to the Peoria Chiefs was impressive, but more so because Francescon skipped
over the Cubs short season Single-A Boise Hawks to the full season
Chiefs. Francescon joined the Chiefs as they began the second half of
their season.
After signing with the Cubs, Francescon was
assigned to the Arizona Rookie League AZL Cubs. The Arizona League is
run by Minor League Baseball.
Patrick Francescon, a 6-foot-one
right-handed pitcher, delievered the save in his first and only appearance with the AZL Cubs. Francescon pitched two innings allowing
just one hit, no walks, and struck out two. In just a week with the
team, Francescon impressed the organization enough to pass him over the
Boise Hawks
Francescon,
from Nolensville, Tenn., played for Ravenwood High School before
pitching at Middle Tennessee State University. Following an injury,
Francescon left baseball. The fire burned still and his arm healed, he
returned to the game and played for Trevecca this season.
