NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca women's soccer team (3-3-2) played maybe its most complete match of the season in picking up a 2-0 win over NCCAA #RV Asbury University (3-4) Friday night at the Trojan Soccer Complex.
"Other than the first ten minutes, our girls really did a nice job of controlling play throughout tonight's match," said Trojan Head Coach Brett Armstrong. "They have really developed some grit, and battled hard tonight."
The Trojans quickly overcame a sluggish start, finding the back of the net in the 13'. Junior Lindsey Robinson put a cross into the box from the right side, which was deflected by senior Heather Halstead right to fellow senior Justine Forth, who tapped in the goal from right in front of the net. The goal was Forth's second of the season, and fifth of her career.
Robinson added an insurance goal for the Trojans with a nice run from the right flank in the 80', the junior midfielder's team-leading third goal of the season.
"I was really proud of the girls tonight," added Coach Armstrong. "I was a little concerned having just played two nights ago, but they really responded with a great effort tonight."
The Trojans hit the road Tuesday for a 2 p.m. match at St. Catharine (1-3).
