NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca men's soccer team (6-6-1, 1-3 TranSouth) defeated visiting Lyon College (6-6-1, 0-3-1) 2-0 Saturday afternoon at the Trojan Soccer Complex.
After a physical and scoreless first half, the Trojans began to get more chances as the second half moved along. At 65:58, Donny Maciel scored a beautiful unassisted goal, his third of the season, to put the Trojans up 1-0. The Scots turned up the pressure, but Sisco Maciel sealed the win with his third goal of the year at 88:59 off an assist from Austin Halstead.
Trevecca had six shots in the first half and eight in the second for a total of 14. Lyon had three in each half for a total of six.
Hayden Coffman had three saves in earning the shutout in goal. The shutout was the eighth of Coffman's career, and his second of the season. Thomas Guarino allowed both Trojan goals while saving five other shots.
On Tuesday, Cumberland University (5-5-1, 0-2-1 TranSouth) will visit the Trojan Soccer Complex for a 7 p.m. match.
