Win Fourth Consecutive TranSouth
OLD HICKORY, Tenn. –
The Twelfth Annual TranSouth Athletic Conference Women's Golf
Championships produces a fourth consecutive title for the Trevecca
women's Golf team. Trevecca is in just its eighth season of women's
golf.
For the first time
in three years the conference Medalist honor and player of the year
award goes to a team other than Trevecca. Leslie Garside of Lambuth was
the tournament's winner. Trevecca did place three golfers on the
all-conference team including Brook Dillehay who finished second in the
tournament.
Trevecca's team
score was (354-352) 706 and were followed by Bethel College at
(374-377) 751, Lyon College (399-399) 798, and Martin Methodist
(434-405) 839. Trevecca, is in just its eighth season of women's golf,
has won the conference title four years in a row.
Garside posted a
score of (85-80) 165 and was joined on the All-TranSouth team by
Trevecca's Brooke Dillehay (86-88) 174, Alyssa Moe (89-87) 176, and
Betsy Beaver (89-88) 177. Emily Muse of Bethel and Lyndi Brown of
Martin Methodist rounded out the all-conference team with identical
scores of (90-88) 178. Muse was the low freshman to nab the Freshman of
the Year honors.
Trevecca's Michael Johnson was named the TranSouth Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive season.
The General's
Retreat Course at the Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn.
played host and the 5,850 yard course played to a par of 72. There were
four teams and a total of 18 golfers competing.
All teams qualify
for the NAIA Region XI tournament in two weeks. Campbellsville
University will host the region on May 1-2 at Maywood Country Club in
Bardstown, Ky.
