NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Brooke Gann's goal in overtime gave the Trevecca women's soccer team (8-7-2, 2-4 TranSouth) a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Campbellsville (12-6, 5-2 Mid-South) Tuesday night at the Trojan Soccer Complex.  It was Senior Night, with Trojan seniors Justine Forth and Heather Halstead honored after the match.

"What a huge win for this team," said Head Coach Brett Armstrong. "Not only was it a big comeback win over a good team, but we came up with exactly what we needed at exactly the right time."

The win pushes the Trojans over .500 for the season, ensuring a berth in the NCCAA Mideast Regional.

It didn't come easy for the Trojans, who fell behind 2-0 in the first half and had to battle from behind to earn the victory. The Tigers jumped on top just 7:17 into the match on a goal by Toria Alsip, who scored off an assist from Megan Campbell. Campbellsville's Cassie Yannelli made it 2-0 at 29:43, and things weren't looking good for Trevecca.

"We had to make some adjustments in that first half," added Coach Armstrong. "They have three really good players up top, and they like to just send balls in and let them go get them. We had to take that away, and then they struggled a bit trying to figure out what else to do."

The strategy paid off, and the Trojans were able to tilt the field in their favor a bit more, finally capitalizing at 39:02 when Kayla VanEs fed Alex Hammond to the right of the box, and the freshman found the back of the net for her third goal of the season, cutting the Trojans' deficit to 2-1 at the half.

Trevecca wasted little time tying things up, as senior Justine Forth took a feed from Lindsey Robinson in front of the net and banged home her third goal of the season at 50:49, scoring in her final home game to tie the match at 2-2.

Both teams traded chances the rest of the way, but no one was able to score before the end of regulation, sending the match to overtime.

The Trojans wasted little time ending the match, as Gann drove hard down the left side, beat her defender, and buried a shot into the far corner of the net to win it just 2:26 into the extra period. The goal was Gann's team-leading seventh of the season.

The Trojans had a 25-15 advantage in shots. Goalkeeper Bekah Headrick made three saves to earn the victory.

"I'm so proud of the girls," said Coach Armstrong. "We fell behind early, but kept battling and giving ourselves chances, and our hard work paid off in a well-deserved win. And I'm thrilled for Heather and Justine, who have been such great leaders for this team, to get a win in their final home game."
