NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca Nazarene University Head Baseball Coach Mike Lord is pleased to announce the signing of Tyler Tichenor of Centertown, Ky., to the program's 2012-2013 recruiting class. Tichenor is currently wrapping up his prep career at Ohio County High School.
"Tyler is a gritty, blue-collar grinder that is going to be really good. We're really excited to add a player of Tyler's caliber to our program," said Coach Lord. "We are very intentional about creating good team unity, and Tyler will fit in very well with the personality of our team. Our guys like each other, push each other, and enjoy being together, and Tyler will be right in the middle of all of that."
The 5-foot-ten Tichenor has played both middle infield and outfield for Coach Vic Evans at Ohio County, and is a three-year varsity starter. As a junior, Tichenor batted .457 (42-92) with eight doubles, four triples, one home run, and was 21-of-22 in stolen base attempts, all of which earned him all-conference, all-district, all-area, and all-region honors. He also was selected to play in the Midwest Classic All-Star game. He hit .333 as a sophomore and was named all-conference, and he batted .307 as freshman, earning all-district and all-conference honors.
"Tyler will be another fast, left-handed hitter in our lineup that will spray line drives to all fields," added Lord. "He has a short, quick swing that is as repeatable of a swing as I have seen in a long time. Tyler will be a great addition to our team, and he will be a great fit here in the Trevecca community."
