NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball program is excited to announce the signing of pitcher Austin Huibers to its 2012-2013 recruiting class. The 6-4 lefthander is coming to Trevecca from Columbia State Community College.

"We have several players on our roster from Columbia State. Coach Corn runs a well organized, disciplined program and his players show up knowing how to play the game," said Coach Lord. "We are fortunate to be able to add another of his players to our team for next year."

Huibers, who is originally from Ontario, Canada, pitched his freshman season at Volunteer State before transferring this fall to Columbia State.

"Austin is a pitcher. He cuts the ball, sinks the ball, changes speeds and just gets outs. He works fast and throws strikes. Every time I went out and watched him throw, I never saw hitters square him up consistently."

"Being from Canada, he hasn't had a lot of years with large amounts of innings, so his arm is fresh and he has a lot of upside. He has a big league pitcher's body right now, and with a few pounds of added muscle, he could be getting serious looks next year."

"Austin has an easy-going personality, is always smiling, but also has a competitive fire when he is on the mound. He will be one of the guys we will give the ball to in big games. With his skill set and personality, I see Austin making a huge impact on our team both on and off the field."
