NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca baseball team (3-5) dropped its third straight game Tuesday afternoon, falling 13-4 to No. 18 Tennessee Wesleyan (7-5) at Jackson Field.

The Trojans jumped on top 1-0 in the first inning on an RBI double by Matt Tidwell that scored Blake Rogers, who had walked and stolen second base.

Trevecca starter Josh Parker was solid in three innings of work, striking out four Bulldogs while allowing just one hit. Unfortunately, that one hit was a two-run homer by designated hitter Dale Ricketts that made it 2-1 in the second inning.

Rob Rowland relieved Parker to start the fourth inning, and Bulldog shortstop Stephen Branca crushed the first pitch he saw over the fence in left to make it 3-1. Tennessee Wesleyan would add another run in the inning and led 4-1 heading to the bottom of the fourth inning. But the Trojans answered, scoring three times in the bottom of the inning on a pair of wild pitches and an RBI single by Michael Maxwell to tie the game at four heading to the fifth inning.

But that would be the last time the Trojans would cross the plate. Three Bulldog pitchers combined to hold Trevecca to one hit the rest of the way, and Tennessee Wesleyan's offense scored four times in the fifth and five more times in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Corey Rhoney (1-0), the third of five pitchers for TWC, picked up the win. Rowland (0-1) took the loss for the Trojans, who used six different pitchers on the afternoon.

Maxwell notched a pair of hits and an RBI for Trevecca, while Tidwell went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, and an RBI. Jake Stone went 3-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and three runs for the Bulldogs, while Branca and Jordan Guida added two hits apiece.

Tennessee Wesleyan finished with 13 runs on 10 hits, with three errors and five men left on base. Trevecca scored four runs on seven hits, with one error, but the Trojans stranded 10 runners on base.

This weekend, the Trojans host Indiana Wesleyan (3-1) in a three-game series. The teams play a single game Friday at 2 p.m. and wrap things up with a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
