NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca
(11-6, 4-4) hosted Cumberland University (13-10, 3-4), defeating the Bulldogs 3-1.
The Trojans used
a 7-0 run midway through the first set to distance themselves, taking
the set 25-17. In set number two, the bulldogs started with a 6-2 spurt
and never looked back, evening the match at a set each with a 25-16
win. Cumberland jumped out quickly in set number three, but trailing
19-14, the Trojans responded with a 6-1 run to tie it up at 20-20. The
teams splint the ensuing six points before Trevecca put away the final
two of the set, winning it 25-23. The Bulldogs took an 11-7 lead in the
fourth set, but Trevecca again dug deep, using runs of 5-1, 6-1, and
5-1 to put the match away 25-19.
The Trojans return to action on Tuesday when the Bethel Wildcats (7-4, 4-1) come to Nashville. The match is scheduled for 7:00.
Trevecca will host Bethel
College (7-4, 4-1) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
