BATESVILLE, Ark.-
Trevecca's men's soccer team
(6-6-2, 1-3) traveled to Batesville, Ark.
where they faced the Scots Lyon College (8-5, 3-2) on Saturday, coming away with a 3-2 road win. In the win, Mark Foster tied the Trevecca career goals scored record. Trevecca also evened its overall record at 6-6-2.
Trevecca's Sam Madeley
opened the scoring in the seventh minute, beating Lyon keeper Matt
Callaway, and giving the Trojans the 1-0 lead. Trevecca senior Mark Foster drew to
within a single goal of the Trojans' career record in the 39th minute,
stretching the Trojans' lead to 2-0, a lead they would take with them
into the half.
In the 55th minute, Foster struck again, tying the
record for career goals and giving the Trojans the 3-0 lead on what would prove to be
the game winner.
Gueorgui Tchamkoriyski cut into the Trojans' lead in the 70th minute, getting Lyon on the scoreboard at 3-1.
Just two minutes later, Tyler Northrip pulled Lyon to within one,
beating Hayden Coffman to make it a 3-2 match, but that was as close as
they would get.
Coffman and the Trojans hung on for the final 18 minutes
of the contest, earning their first TranSouth win of the season 3-2.
Foster added an assist on the Trojans first goal and now has 40 goals
in his Trevecca career. He ties the record set by Mario Do Santos.
Foster will have his
first chance to break the record when the team visits Cumberland
University (6-5-1, 2-3) on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Cumberland plays
their home soccer matches at Friendship Christian School in Lebanon,
Tenn.
