VOLLEYBALL: Sweep Lambuth
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca
(16-8) hosted former conference foe Lambuth University (12-10) on Thursday, taking the match from the Lady Eagles in straight sets.
Lambuth
took five of the first six points of the match, but Trevecca battled
back, pulling to within one point at 10-9. Jessica Hood again ignited
the Trojans' offense, serving eight straight points this time to put
the Trojans on top 17-10, and Trevecca went on to win the set 25-14.
In
the second set, the Trojans won seven of the first nine points, and
steadily pulled away from there. Lambuth would get no closer than three
points the remainder of the game, and the Trojans took a commanding 2-0
lead in the match with a 25-16 second set win.
Lambuth
used an 8-1 run in the middle of the third set to take a 12-10 lead,
but again the Trojans turned to a server to break the momentum. This
time it was Kelly Huff who served eight consecutive points, putting the
Trojans up 19-13 en route to the 25-17 set win.
Hood
(9-28) and Kaley Ward (9-12) led the Trojans in kills for the match,
while Ward (9-12, 1 Error) and Kristen Evans (6-9) each hit .667 for
the match. Huff dished out 24 assists and Kimi Coffey paced the Trojans
with 10 digs.
The
Trojans next match will be with another former TranSouth opponent, the
Crichton Comets (12-13) on Friday in Memphis, Tenn. The match is
scheduled for 6:00.
