NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NAIA No. 4 Trevecca (5-0) defeated Tennessee Wesleyan (4-2) 75-60 on Saturday in the finale of the Pops Duncan Classic at Moore Gym.

Trevecca opened the game on a 12-2 run and were never seriously threatened the remainder of the game. The Bulldogs cut the Trojan lead to just seven points (27-20) with 7:45 remaining in the first half with a 5-0 run. Trevecca closed the half with an 18-4 run to take a 21-point (45-24) lead. Jennifer Bognar scored 19 first half points for the Trojans. She was 6-for-6 from the field and hit both of her three-point attempts.

Tennessee Wesleyan cut the Trojan lead to just 11 points with a 7-0 run that made the score 71-60 with 1:49 to go, but the Trojans turned back the run with 4-0 to finish the game.

Bognar finished with 23 points after scoring 24 in Friday's win over Talladega. Bognar and Casey Pigue had a team high three steals each. Bognar was 7-for-8 from the field and had four rebounds, a block, and a steal. Abby Lawson also hit double figures with 11 points and added a team high six rebounds and three assists.. K.C. Van Atta had nine points, four rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.

As a team Trevecca hit 28-of-51 (55%) from the field, 5-for-16 (31%) from three-point range, and 14-of-20 (70%) from the foul line. Trevecca outrebounded TWC 35-32 and outscored the Bulldogs 28-12 on points off of turnovers and 44-14 on points in the paint.

This was the first meeting between the two schools in women's basketball.

Trevecca will face Knoxville College on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
