NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca head baseball coach Jonathan Burton is pleased to announce the signing of Michael Son, a sophomore from Vincennes, Ind., for the fall of 2009.
Son was a key part to the Vincennes UniversityTrailblazers staff in 2008 and looks to build upon a successful freshmen season. Used primarily as a starter last year, he was second on the team in wins (5-2), strikeouts (39) and fourth in innings pitched with 41, while also only walking 10 batters during the year. This fall, Michael led the pitching staff with a 4-,1 recording a 3.56 ERA and totaling 19 strikeouts in 19 innings.
"We are very fortunate and excited to sign a pitcher this early with Michael's ability," Burton stated. "He is a fantastic kid with a positive attitude that is always ready to compete. We are expecting Michael to compete right away in our weekend rotation" The Trojans are coming of a season that saw them post a 37-16 mark, and win the regular season in the TranSouth Conference at 17-3 - their third TranSouth regular season crown in four years.
