AZUSA, Calif. - #RV Trevecca (2-2) headed out to California for the weekend, taking on the No. 17 Azusa Pacific Cougars (3-2) on Thursday night, falling by a score of 84-71.
 
The Trojans and Cougars battled hard early, with the Trojans taking a 24-22 lead with 6:31 remaining in the first half. The Cougars responded with a 12-0 run that gave Azusa the 34-24 lead with 2:41 to play. The Trojans used an 8-2 spurt to cut the deficit to four at 36-32, but Azusa Pacific closed out the half with six unanswered points, taking a 42-32 lead into the locker room. In the early portion of the second half, the Cougars stabilized their lead, and the Trojans never got closer than nine points, falling 84-71.
 
Brian Oduor (19), Matthew Elliott (13), and Christopher Harris (10) scored in double figures for the Trojans, with Oduor pacing the team with seven rebounds. De'Jon Everson dished out nine assists in the loss.
 
As a team, the Trojans shot 28-of-47 (59.6%) from the floor, 9-of-15 (60%) from beyond the arc, and 6-9 (66.7%) from the charity stripe. The Trojans outshot the Cougars from the floor, from three-point range, and from the Charity stripe, but Trevecca turned the ball over 21 times in the loss.
 
Trevecca will take on San Diego Christian (1-2) on Friday Night at 9:30, and #RV Point Loma Nazarene (1-1) on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
