Trevecca scored first, but Bethel responded with a 6-0 run to take a 6-2 advantage with 17:34 to play in the first half. The Trojans began to slowly pull back in to the game, reclaiming the lead when De'Jon Everson hit a three pointer with 3:42 left in the half. Bethel came back, however, to take the 32-31 halftime lead. The Wildcats continued to hold the lead until Matthew Elliott hit one of his two threes with 16:57 to play, as a part of a 7-0 run, to give the Trojans the lead at 40-39. The Wildcats tied the game at 53-53 with 9:57 left, and moments later, the game took a dramatic turn.

With the Trojans holding a 56-55 lead, Bethel's Antione Lesesene was whistled for a foul which would send Brian Oduor to the foul line. Lesesene was then called for two technical fouls before Oduor could make his way to the charity stripe and was ejected from the game. Elliott sank all four technical free throws, then Oduor drained his pair, stretching the Trojans' lead from one to seven without any time running off the clock. Bethel battled back to tie the game at 69-69, but they would not regain the lead, as the Trojans pulled out the 86-81 win.

Elliott posted a career-high 30 points in the win, hitting 9-of-11 shots from the floor, including 2-for-2 from long range, and all 10 free throws he attempted. Oduor scored 25 points of his own, passing Bill Alexander for 15th on the Trojans' all-time scoring list, and added 13 rebounds to lead the team. Everson added 11 points as well.

As a team, Trevecca shot 27-of-50 (54%) from the floor, 4-of-9 (44.4%) from long range, and 28-of-34 (82.4%) from the free throw line. Trevecca scored a whopping 59 points off the bench in the win.

Trevecca will visit Lambuth University (9-4) on Thursday at 8 p.m. in Jackson, Tenn. for a non-conference matchup. The Eagles are no longer members of the TranSouth. The Eagles were ranked No. 14 in the NAIA Preseason Coaches Poll.
