NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NAIA No. 3 Trevecca (14-1, 3-0) hosted TranSouth foe Lyon College (5-10, 1-3) on Saturday, taking the 71-59 win.  

Lyon started the game off on fire, scoring the first seven points of the ballgame, but the Trojans battled back to take the lead at 10-8. After Lyon tied the game at 10-10, the Trojans quickly reclaimed the lead, stretching it to five before Lyon came back to tie the game again at 24-24. From there, the Trojans finished the half on an 8-0 run, taking a 32-24 lead into the locker room. In the second half, the Trojans quickly stretched the lead to 10 points, and eventually got the advantage out to as many as 14 points at 48-34. Lyon came back to within six points at 60-54, but they would get no closer. The Trojans sealed the game at the foul line, taking the 71-59 victory.

 

Abby Lawson scored 15 points to lead the Trojans, K.C. Van Atta chipped in 14, and Jennifer Bognar scored 12 while grabbing a team high nine rebounds. Lawson also had five steals in the game. As a team, Trevecca shot 24-of-56 (42.9%) from the floor,7-of-22 (31.8%) from long distance, and 16-of-20 (80%) from the charity stripe. Trevecca outrebounded Lyon 40-37 and forced 23 turnovers.

  Trevecca will take a week off before hosting RV Martin Methodist (12-2, 3-2) on Saturday, January 17 at 2 p.m.
