MAYFIELD, Ky. - NAIA No. 4 Trevecca (16-1, 5-0 TranSouth) hit the road on Monday for the first of two weeknight games this week, traveling to Mayfield, Ky. to take on the Mid-Continent Cougars (2-14, 0-6).Trevecca won the game going away, 69-46.  

Trevecca quickly built an 8-4 lead, but the Cougars came back with a 7-1 run to take the lead at 11-9. With 7:40 remaining in the first half, Vanessa Pincheon tied the game at 14-14 with a three-pointer, and moments later, Paige McFarlin gave the Trojans the lead back at 18-16. Over the final five minutes of the first half, Trevecca out-scored the Cougars 11-, taking a 29-20 lead into the break. In the second half, Trevecca never trailed, and the Cougars got no closer than nine points, as the Trojans pulled away to the 69-46 win.

 

Four players were in double-figures for the Trojans, with Abby Lawson leading the way with 16 points. Casey Pigue scored 14 in the game and Jennifer Bognar and Paige McFarlin each chipped in 10. Angelica Sails led the Trojans with seven rebounds, Casey Attebery notched five assists, and Lawson and Pigue each dished out four helpers.

 

As a team, the Trojans shot 30-for-60 (50%) from the floor, 4-for-13 (30.8%) from long range, and 5-for-10 (50%) from the charity stripe. Trevecca forced 27 turnovers, including 16 steals, in the game.

  The Trojans will stay on the road Thursday versus Blue Mountain (Miss.) College (3-11, 0-3) at 8 p.m. The final game of the team's stretch of four games in eight days is back at Moore Gym with Cumberland University (6-11, 2-3) visiting on Saturday (Jan. 24) at 4 p.m.
