NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NAIA No. 4 Trevecca (18-1, 6-0 TranSouth) returned home for the final game of the team's stretch of four games in eight days, playing host to Cumberland University (6-15, 2-6) and taking their fifth straight ballgame 79-56.

The Bulldogs scored the first two points of the game, but their lead was short lived. The Trojans quickly charged in front, stretching their advantage to as many as 16 in the first half, and at the break, Trevecca lead by 14, 42-28. The second half saw more of the same from the Trojans, who roared out of the gate in the second half. With 11:49 remaining, the Trojans' lead reached 20 points for the first time, and with 10:13 to play, the lead reached 20 for good. Trevecca led by as many as 28 with 6:24 left in the game, and from there, the Trojans cruised to the win 79-56.

 

Abby Lawson led the Trojans offensively with 20 points, and Jennifer Bognar chipped in 18. Angelica Sails ripped down 12 boards for the Trojans, Christian Gibson dished out five assists, and Bognar notched four blocked shots in the contest as well.

 

As a team, Trevecca shot 27-for-58 (46.6%) from the floor, 4-for-16 (25%) from behind the arc, and 21-for-30 from the free throw line. The Trojans out-rebounded the Bulldogs 43-28.

 

Trevecca returns to action to begin the second half of the TranSouth schedule on Thursday night, when they hit the road to take on No. 6 Freed-Hardeman (16-5, 6-2 TranSouth) in Henderson, Tenn. Tip-off is slated for 6:00.
