NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NAIA No. 20 Trevecca Nazarene Trojans (2-2) started a three-game series at Milligan College (3-2) with a double-header on Friday, winning the first game with the Buffaloes 2-1.

Wesley Griggs took the ball for the Trojans, and he was brilliant. He tossed six innings, allowing just four hits and a single uneraned run, while fanning two and issuing two walks. Colin Duffie started the game on the mound for the Buffaloes, and he was relieved by Aaron Dorriety (0-1) in the seventh inning.

Milligan scored their lone tally of the game, an unerrned run, in the bottom of inning number two, but the Trojans answered in the fifth. Ross Muirhead doubled and scored in the frame to tie the ballgame at 1-1. Ben Johnson (1-0) relieved Griggs in the seventh frame, keeping the Buffaloes at bay and forcing the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, Chase Birdwell doubled, later scoring what proved to be the game winning run ahead of a Nathan Wright RBI double. Johnson closed the door in the bottom of the inning, and the Trojans took the 2-1 win. Trevecca scored two runs on seven hits and committed one error, while Milligan scored one run on seven hits and made two errors.
