
SAVANNAH, Ga. - Trevecca's women's golf team opened thespring portion of the 2008-2009 schedule on Monday, playing in the Savannah Art and Design Spring Invitational. The tournament is being played at the Wilmington Island Golf Club, a par-71 course that measures 5,805 yards. After day one, the Trojans found themselves in eight place out of 16 teams.
Trevecca posted a team total of 347 (+63), with Brooke Dillehay leading the charge for the Trojans. Dillehay posted an 81 and currently sits in a tie for 13th place, ten strokes off the pace set by Emelie Andersson of Northwood (Fla.). Ashley Birdwell posted an 85 and is tied for 30th, Alyssa Moe shot 86 putting herself in a tie for 37th place, and Betsy Beaver rounded out the Trojans in the field, shooting a 95 and sitting alone in 63rd place. There are 82 golfers in the tournament field.
Berry College and Savannah Art and Design are tied for the lead after day one, posting team totals of 316. Embry-Riddle sits three strokes back in third at 319, and South Carolina Beaufort and Northwood (Fla.) are tied for fourth at 325.
The teams will finish play with another 18 holes on Tuesday.
