JAMUL, Calif. - Trevecca's men's golf team opened the spring portion of the 2008-2009 schedule on Monday, playing in the Point Loma Nazarene/Smee Builders Invitational. The Tournament is being played at the 6,834 yard par-71 Steele Canyon Golf Club. After day one, the Trojans found themselves in 12th place out of 15 teams. The teams played 36 holes on Monday.
Trevecca posted a team total of 637 (323-314), with Joey Bradley leading the way for the Trojans. Bradley posted an 154 (80-74) and currently sits in a tie for 39th place, 18 strokes off the pace set by Mitchell Evanecz of the University of Victoria (B.C.). Skip Jones posted a 158 (80-78) and is tied for in 51st, Grant Moffett shot 160 (79-81) putting himself in a tie for 54th place, Will Scism posted a 165 (84-81) and is tied for 65th, and Bobby Humburg rounded out the Trojans in the field, shooting a 168 (86-82) and tying for 69th after day one. There are 76 golfers in the tournament field.
The University of Victoria (B.C) leads the way after the first 36 holes, posting a team total of 579 (291-288). Point Loma Nazarene sits in second with a team score of 580 (292-288), the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs is in third at 586 (294-292), Cal State-East Bay is in fourth at 598 (301-297), and Claremont (308-292) and Wayland Baptist (311-289) are tied for fifth at 600.
The teams will finish play with another 18 holes on Tuesday.
