
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca softball team (3-4, 2-0 TranSouth) hosted Union University (4-5) on Wednesday, taking the first game of the double header 5-1.
Trevecca jummped out early, scoring single runs in the first and second innings, and a pair in the third to give Stephanie Fisher the 4-0 lead. Union scratched across a run in the top of the fourth, but the Trojans answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to provide the final margin of 5-1. Fisher (2-1) was brilliant, fanning seven, allowing one earned run and scattering five hits in the complete game win. Bethany Burnett (1-3) took the loss for the Bulldogs. Karli Rush was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in the game; Chelsea Bailey was 1-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI; and Melinda Patterson was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Trevecca scored five runs on nine hits and committed one error, while Union scored once on five hits and made two defensive errors.
