NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca softball team (6-4, 2-0 TranSouth) hosted Tennessee Wesleyan (4-6) on Thursday, sweeping a double header from the Bulldogs 8-0 and 2-1

Stephanie Fisher took the ball for the Trojans in game one, and she was brilliant yet again for the Trojans. Trevecca gave her two runs of support in the bottom of the third and that was more than enough. Fisher tossed 5 2/3 innings of no-hit softball, before Elisha Collins chopped a single up the middle to break up the no-hit bid. Fisher (3-1) earned the win, tossing six shutout innings and allowing just the one hit. She walked two and struck out eight in the game. Paige Goins (0-3) took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing two unearned runs in five innings of work. Lindsey Brown relieved Goins in the sixth inning, and the Trojans touched her up for six runs in 2/3 of an inning. Chelsea Bailey was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI; Megan Suggs was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI; Cassady Critchfield was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI; and Karli Rush was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Trevecca scored their eight runs on 10 hits and committed one error, while the Bulldogs managed just one hit and made three errors.

Game two shaped up into a pitchers' duel between Trevecca's Riley Mashburn and Brittany Fox of Tennessee Wesleyan. Mashburn fanned five of the first six batters she faced, and the Trojans pushed across two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead 2-0. Mashburn allowed one run in the top of the sixth, and Tennessee Wesleyan had the tying run 60 feet away, but Mashburn (3-0) struck out pinch hitter Brittnie Hester - Mashburn's ninth strikeout of the game - to get out of the jam. The Trojans could not push anything across in the bottom of the sixth, but Stephanie Fisher (1) came in and shut the door in the seventh for the save as the Trojans won 2-1. Mashburn allowed one run on four hits in the game, walking three and retiring nine Bulldogs on strikes. The Trojans handed Brittany Fox (4-1) the loss for Tennessee Wesleyan. Bailey was 2-for-3 with a run scored; Karli Rush was 2-for-3 with an RBI; and Sammy Simon went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Trevecca scored two runs on six hits and Tennessee Wesleyan scored once on five hits. both teams committed two errors in the game.

Trevecca will return to action on Friday, March 13 when they take part in the Gulf Coast Invitational. The Trojans will play Spring Hill College (7-11) and Grand View University (3-4) on Friday, and they will play Shorter College (4-2) and Oklahoma Christian (5-5) on Saturday, March 14.
