NASHVILLE, Tenn.
- The Trevecca Nazarene Trojans (10-7, 1-0 TranSouth) opened TranSouth
conference play with a 15-4 win over Freed-Hardeman (8-6, 0-1) on
Friday. Brian Dirheimer hit two home runs in the seventh inning to
force the 10-run rule into effect. Tim Dunn (5-0) picked up the
complete game win at Trevecca's Jackson Field.
The visitors from Henderson posted two runs in the first inning on
Trojan hurler Tim Dunn. Dunn settled down and recieved great help from
his defense as two Lion runners where thrown out at home plate during
the game and another Lion was picked off second base by catcher Brian
Dirheimer. Dunn pitched seven innings and gave up four earned runs on
10 hits, three walks while striking out six. Carlos Pertuz (2-1) took
the loss. He pitched 5.1 innings and gave up seven runs, all earned. He
allowed six hits, four walks and struck out five. Joey Gildea relieved
Pertuz and allowed eight hits over the final 1.1 innings.
Brian Dirheimer was 3-5 with two runs scored, four RBI, a triple, and
two home runs. He also tagged two runners out at the plate and picked
off a runner at second to stop FHU rallies. Dirheimer lead off the
seventh inning with a blast over the netting in left field and ended
the inning and the game with a two-run round tripper out of center
field.
Chris Lowe was 2-5 with three runs scored, two RBI, and a triple. He
also got an assist in the field when he gunned a runner out at home
plate. Nathan Wright, who threw out a runner at home plate, had a RBI
double and two stolen bases. Matt Tidwell had two stolen bases while
Marty Parks homered and had a stolen base. Trey Morrison also had a
double.
TNU and FHU will complete the series with a double header Saturday (Live Audio) at Noon. The home stand
will
conclude with a single game on Monday, March 9th at 2 p.m. versus
Lindsey Wilson (3-3).
