ROME, Ga. - Trevecca's men's golf team were 16th out of 21 teams after one day of play in the Rome News-Tribune (Berry College) Invitational. The 36-hole event is being played at the 6,702 yard, par-72 Stonebridge Golf Course.

 

Trevecca shot a team score of 315 and are led by sophomore Bobby Humburg's (39-38) 77. Humburg is tied for 53rd out of1118 golfers competing. Joey Bradley and Skip Jones are in a tie in 58th place. Each carded a 79 on the day. Bradley shot on 39 on both the front and back nine while Jones carded a 38-40. Will Scism shot a (44-38) 82 and David Saldana carded a (46-40) 86. 

 

The Panthers of LaGrange College had three golfers in the top-six at the tournament, including Ryan Willis, who is in a three-way tie for first place after shooting an opening round 69. LaGrange has a four stroke lead on Berry College with a 285. Individually Willis is tied with Noah Smithson from Newman (Kan.) and Alex Lantz from Shorter. The host team, Berry, is currently second after firing an opening round score of 289 to trail LaGrange by four strokes heading into the final round. Third place is currently a tie between John A. Logan Community College and Shorter. Both teams shot 295 in Monday's opening round.
 
The final round of the tournament will start tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
