PADUCAH, Ky. - Trevecca's baseball team (13-10, 3-1 TranSouth) hit the road for their second TranSouth weekend series on Friday heading to Kentucky to take on the Mid-Continent Cougars (7-13, 0-1 TranSouth), taking the first game of a double header 6-1.

 
Trevecca opened the scoring in the top of the third inning when Chris Lowe hit an RBI single that drove in Ross Muirhead to make it 1-0 Trevecca. Mid-Continent scored a run in the bottom half to make it 1-1, and that was all the scoring until the seventh inning. Trevecca lit up the scoreboard in the top of the seventh, scoring five times on five hits highlighted by a three-RBI triple from Chase Birdwell to break the game wide open. Tim Dunn shut the door in the bottom of the seventh as the Trojans took game one 6-1.
 

Dunn (5-0) earned the win, tossing a complete game fit-hitter and allowing one run while walking two and fanning nine Cougars. Sean Aldrich (2-2) took the loss for Mid-Continent. Chris Lowe, Brian Dirheimer, and Matt Tidwell each had three hits in the game for the Trojans, Birdwell (3) and Dirheimer (2) had multiple RBI in the game, and Muirhead scored a pair of runs. Trevecca scored six runs on 14 hits and played errorless baseball, and Mid-Continent scored one run on five hits and made two errors.
