ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The Trojans (7-5) finished the first day  of the Gulf Coast Invitational on Friday with a game against Grand View University (8-5), downing the Vikings 9-1 in just five innings.

The Trojans struck first with a run in the bottom of the second inning, and Lauren Baker (3-1) shined for Trevecca in the circle. Baker did allow a lead-off solo home run to Grand View's Whitney Link in the top of the fourth. Baker allowed just one other hit in the game and allowed just two hits and two walks with six strikeouts. In the bottom of the fourth frame, the Trojans exploded for six runs to make it a 7-1 game. The Trojans finished the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Offensively, the Trojans were led by Karli Rush and Sammy Simon. Rush was 2-for-2 with two doubles, a run scored, an RBI,  and a walk. Simon was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored, a RBI,  and a walk. Cassady Critchfield was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a double.

Kylee Jones (4-3) took the loss for Grand View College.
 
The Trojans will wrap up the pool play portion of the tournament with games against NAIA No. 15 Shorter College (9-5) and Oklahoma Christian (11-5) on Saturday.
