PADUCAH, Ky. - Trevecca's baseball team (14-10, 4-1
TranSouth)
hit the road for their second TranSouth weekend series on Friday when
the Trojans head
back to Kentucky to take on the Mid-Continent Cougars (7-14, 0-2
TranSouth)
completing the double header sweep with a 3-1 win.
Dirheimer got
the Trojans on the board in the top of the third inning with an RBI single that plated Ross Muirhead and gave the Trojans the
1-0 lead. Trevecca added two runs in the top of the sixth when Trey
Morrison laced a two-RBI single to left-center to stretch the Trojans'
lead to 3-0. The Trojans gave up a run in the bottom of the frame, but
that was all the Cougars would get, as Trevecca completed the double
header sweep 3-1.
Wesley Griggs (2-5)
earned the win for the Trojans, tossing six innings and allowing one
earned run on four hits. Griggs walked three batters and fanned eight.
Chris Buckman (1-3) took the loss for Mid-Continent, and Drew
Durossette (1) earned the save for Trevecca by tossing the seventh
inning. Dirheimer was 2-for-3 with an RBI; and Morrison was 2-for-3
with a pair of RBI. Muirhead, Blair Haskins, and Cody Heggie scored the
runs for the Trojans. Trevecca scored three runs on seven hits and did
not make an error, while Mid-Continent scored one run on four hits and
made one error.
The final game of the three-game series will be played on Saturday at noon in Mayfield, Ky. on
Mid-Continent's campus.
