
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Trevecca softball team (10-11) continued play in the Campbellsville University Invitational on Saturday, falling to Robert Morris (11-5) 7-6 in eight innings to open day two.
Trevecca battled closely behind Lauren Baker, taking an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Robert Morris answered with a run in the top of the fourth and took the 3-2 lead with two runs in the top of the fifth. Trevecca tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, but the Eagles took a 5-3 lead with two runs in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the frame, Sammy Simon tied the game with a two-run homer, sending the game into exra innings tied at 5-5. Robert Morris took a 7-5 lead with two runs in the top of the frame, and the Trojans comeback effort fell short in the bottom half, as they managed just one run and lost the game 7-6. Shelby Mashburn (1-1) took the loss for the Trojans, tossing 1 1/3 innings in relief of Baker.
