CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Trevecca softball team (11-11) continued play in the Campbellsville University Invitational on Saturday, defeating Union (Ky.) (12-8) in the second game of the day 7-0.

Trevecca battled Union close out of the gate, with the game remaining scoreless into the bottom of the sixth. In the inning, Trevecca's offense came alive, as the Trojans plated seven runs for starting pitcher Riley Mashburn. Stephanie Fisher relieved Mashburn - who earned the victory - in the seventh to shut the door, and the Trojans took the 7-0 victory. 
 

Mashburn (4-4) threw six innings of shutout softball, scattering four hits and six walks while striking out four. Megan Suggs led the Trojans offensively with a 3-for-4 effort, a run, and an RBI. Chelsea Bailry was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI; Sammy Simon was 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, a run, and two RBI; Megan Hemmingsen was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI; and Karli Rush was 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

 

The Trojans will continue their season with a key TranSouth Conference matchup with Bethel College (14-4, 2-0 TranSouth) on Thursday, March 26 at 3 p.m.
