NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca's baseball team (20-12, 5-1 TranSouth) hosted Shawnee State (12-12) on Friday for a double-header, with the Trojans completing the double-header sweep in game two with a 4-2 win.

Wesley Griggs started the second game for the Trojans, and again the Trojans backed the starting pitcher early. Cody Heggie notched an RBI single in the bottom of the first, then Nathan Wright followed with a squeeze bunt to make it 2-0 Trojans. Each team scored a run in the fourth, and Shawnee State scored in the top of the fifth to make the score 3-2 Trojans. In the bottom of the sixth, the Trojans pushed across an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, and that was all the Trojans needed to take the 4-2 win.

Griggs (3-6) earned the victory, tossing six innings of three hit baseball and allowing two earned runs while walking five and striking out seven. Dustin Cook (1-1) took the loss for the Bears, and Drew Durossette (2) picked up the save. Six Trojans had hits in the game, with Aaron Bree belting a double (6). Heggie (17), Wright (18), and Marty Parks (14) each had RBI in the game. Trevecca scored four runs on six hits, while Shawnee State scored two runs on three hits. Each team made two errors.

The two teams will wrap up the series on Saturday with a single game at Noon. Check the Trevecca athletic website (www.tnutrojans.com) for the latest times and schedule.
