NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca softball team (13-12, 4-1 TranSouth) lost their first conference game this afternoon, 5-3 to Lyon College (10-11, 1-0) in the first game of a scheduled double-header on Saturday. Game two was washed out due to a tornado warning and accompanying rain showers.

 

The Pipers scored one in the first and the Trojans tied the game at 1 with a tally in the third. Lyon didn't waste anytime and added three runs in the top of the fourth. Trevecca added a run in their half of the fourth and trailed 4-2. Lyon added their final run in the sixth. Trevecca added a run in the seventh, but fell two short of extending the game.

 

TNU scored three runs on five hits and had two errors. LC scored five runs on nine hits and had two errors. Stephanie Fisher (5-6) took the loss as she pitched the first four innings. Riley Mashburn came on to pitch the final three in relief. Faith Richmond (4-5) got the win in complete game fashion. She allowed five hits, three runs, two earned runs, three walks and struck out three. .

 

Chelsea Bailey was 1-for-2 with a run scored, two walks, a triple, and a stolen base. Caitlyn Bailey was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Lyon's Kristi Keller was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI..

 

The Trojans will visit No. 12 Martin Methodist (23-6, 2-0 TranSouth) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The next home game will be versus Cumberland University (3-15, 0-4 TranSouth) on Thursday at 4 p.m. On Saturday (April 4) the team will visit Tennessee Wesleyan (8-12) at 2 p.m.
