FULTON, Mo. - Trevecca's women's golf team competed in the
William Woods Invitational at the Tanglewood Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday
and finished third of 12 teams. The course played to a par of 72 over 5895
yards. There were a total of 62 golfer competing. All four of Trevecca's
golfers finished in the top 20.
Under extreme weather conditions the team had a 28 stroke
improvement on Tuesday. The team shot a (368-340) 708. William Woods won the
event with a (319-313) 632. Ceanne Kessig of William Woods won the event with a
(77-76) 153.
Trevecca's golfers were: Ashley Birdwell (86-85) 171 in 11th
place, Alyssa Moe (88-85) 173 in 13th place, Betsy Beaver (94-88) 182 in 20th
place, and Brooke Dillehay (100-82) 182 in 20th place.
Trevecca coach Michael Johnson said, "I'm very proud of
the team. They played under difficult conditions on Monday and the conditions
worsened today. Even so, they fought through and finished third overall. Moving
up the standings on Tuesday."
"This is a big step for our team. We are beginning to
put another strong run together and our confidence is growing as we head toward
the TranSouth tournament. I always knew this team had the talent and desire to
win another conference championship, now they are beginning to show signs of
playing like it."
Trevecca will warm up for the TranSouth Tournament with the
Stonebridge Invitational hosted by Berry
College at the Stonebridge Golf Course
in Rome, Ga.
The TranSouth Tournament will be held at the Greystone Golf
Course in Dickson, Tenn. on April 20-21.
