LEBANON, Tenn. - Trevecca (17-13, 6-2 TranSouth) visited Cumberland University (6-21, 1-8 TranSouth) on Friday, taking the first game of a double-header 4-2 in nine innings.

Trevecca opened the scoring when Sammy Simon hit a sacrifice fly to plate Chelsea Bailey. Melinda Patterson drove in Caitlyn Bailey in the fourth, giving the Trojans a 2-0 lead, but the Bulldogs answered. A bases loaded walk in the fourth, and an RBI single in the fifth tied the game at 2-2.

The game proceeded into extra frames, and in the top of the ninth, Megan Suggs knocked in Chelsea Bailey with a single, and later scored on a Karli Rush double. The Bulldogs went in order in the last of the ninth, and the Trojans held on for the 4-2 win.
 
Stephanie Fisher started for the Trojans in the circle, lasting five innings and allowing two earned runs on six hits. Fisher walked three and struck out seven in the game. Riley Mashburn (6-5) relieved her in the sixth, pitching the final four innings to earn the win. Mashburn allowed just two hits, while walking one and striking out three. Alli Donnelly (1-10) threw all nine innings for the Bulldogs in the loss.

Offensively, the Trojans were led by Karli Rush who posted a 2-for-5 day with two doubles (9) and an RBI (21). Sammy Simon was 2-for-3 with a double (8) and an RBI (17); Riley Mashburn was 2-for-5 with a double (3); and Caitlyn Bailey was 1-for-5 with a double (4) and a run scored.
