JACKSON, Tenn. - Trevecca (18-15, 7-4 TranSouth) visited Union University (21-18, 6-2) on Saturday for a key TranSouth matchup, dropping both games of the double-header. The Bulldogs finished off the sweep with a 6-4 win in the second game.
In game two, each team plated a run in the first inning, but again Union pulled out in front in the middle innings. This time, Union scored five runs in the bottom of the third to take the 6-1 lead. Trevecca tried to chip away, scoring single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh, but the comeback fell short as Union held on for the 6-4 win.
Riley Mashburn (5-6) started for the Trojans, lasting three innings and allowing six runs - five earned - on eight hits. Mashburn walked three and struck out one in the loss. Hailee Edwards (10-4) earned the win for the Bulldogs. Karli Rush was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a run scored, and an RBI; Chelsea Bailey was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI; Melinda Patterson was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI; and Riley Mashburn was 3-for-4. Union scored six runs on eight hits and committed two errors, while Trevecca scored four runs on nine hits and made three errors.
