
DICKSON, Tenn. - The 36-hole TranSouth Tournament is being played at the Greystone Golf Course in Dickson, Tenn. There are four teams and 18 golfers competing. The course is playing to a par of 72 over 6004 yards.
Trevecca leads the tournament after the first day of play. After 18-holes of play Trevecca (348) leads Bethel (351) by three strokes. Martin Methodist (372) and Lyon College (382) round out the tournament field.
Trevecca's Betsy Beaver (81) holds the lead by two-strokes over Emily Muse (83) of Bethel College. Ashley Birdwell (Trevecca) and Bailee Johnson (Bethel) are tied for third at 83. Brooke Dillehay is a stroke back at 86 and Jaclyn Walters of Martin Methodist is sixth with an 87. Alyssa Moe rounds out the Trojan participants with a 96.
The winner of the 2009 TranSouth Women's Golf Championships will advance to the NAIA National Championships. Trevecca has won the last four TranSouth Tournament titles.
The 15th Annual NAIA Women's Golf National Championships will be held May 12-15 at the Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course in Rapid City, South Dakota.
