JACKSON, Tenn. - Trevecca (35-22) and Union University
(35-17) will play for the 2009 TranSouth Tournament Championship at
Noon on Thursday (May 7) at Union's Fesmire Field. The tournament
winner will receive the conference's automatic bid to the opening round
of the NAIA Championships.
Trevecca will need to beat Union twice to advance; Union will advance
with one victory. Union defeated Trevecca for their only loss in the
tournament on Monday night. Union has rallied from behind to win all
three of their tournament games despite coming into the tournament as

Union has defeated Trevecca in three consecutive games all in the
last eight days. Trevecca defeated Union last Thursday in Jackson. It was the
first of a three-game series. Union came back to win the next two and defeated Trevecca in Monday's opening round of the TSAC
Tournament.
Trevecca has been to the TranSouth Championship Round three years in a row and reached the semifinal game in 2006 and 2003. Trevecca won the tournament in 2005.
The likely starters in game one are Tim Dunn (12-0) for Trevecca and Karl Harkin
(9-3) for Union. It is the third time each has faced their opposing
lineups in eight days. Dunn defeated Union 10-1 last Thursday and
Harkin defeated Trevecca 6-1 in last Thursday's second game of the
series. On Monday, it was Harkin getting the advantage in the 3-1 Union
win in a head-to-head battle with Tim Dunn. Dunn was spectacular, but
was forced out of the game in the seventh. Union scored a pair of runs
for the win in the eighth.
The Trevecca baseball program has now won 35 games in a season seven consecutive seasons.
