The team posted their tournament best round of 338 on their third round and final round today at Meadowbrook Golf Course. The 338 improved the team score enough to move TNU from 24th to 22nd after three rounds of play.
The five-time defending TranSouth champion Trojans will not advance to the final round of play on Friday. Only the top 17 teams and 40 individuals advance to the final round. The Trojans posted a (339-367-338) 1044 overall team score, which moved them ahead of their two playing partners on Thursday. Trevecca coach Michael Johnson was very pleased with his teams' final round, "I'm so proud of the way the team responded today and finished strong. Though the weather was noticeably better, the greens had taken the brunt of the conditions and were nearly fried - making approach shots and putting treacherous at times."
"We played at the same level or better today than some really good team, our final round score today was better than six teams ranked in the final Top 25 poll, including the eighth ranked team and tied the score of the No. 14 team."
"It's been an amazing experience for our team and we proved that we belonged out here. I was told time and again by our playing partners this week how enjoyable it was for them to play with our team."
Trevecca's third round score was 29 strokes better than their second round score and each player moved up several spots in the standings.
