He also belted eight doubles, two triples, and two homers while scoring 31 runs, knocking in 24, slugging .507, and earning all District 9-AAA and all Region 5-AAA honors..
"Matt is a great local high school sign for us," said coach Burton. "He is still maturing and developing into a great player, and we feel that his best days are ahead of him. The thing that makes Matt stand out is that he is not only a great player but a great teammate and student as well. We look forward to his next four years at Trevecca being as good as the ones he had at Mt. Juliet."
Owens becomes the 13th player to sign with Coach Burton and the Trojans for the 2009-2010 season.
