NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Trevecca women's soccer coach Brett Armstrong has added Kayla VanEs of
Gallatin, Tenn. to his roster of signees for the Fall of 2009.
The 5'7" Hendersonville (Tenn.) High School product plays midfield
and striker. Her coach with the Commandoes was Russ Plummer. VanEs was a member
of the State Championship Metros Soccer Club team.
Armstrong says VanEs is a tall and strong central midfielder, "Kayla is a
skilled technical player who is strong on the ball and sees the field very
well. She's also an intelligent player who knows the game, distributes the ball
well and should be able to contribute immediately. Kayla is a high character
person and player that will be an excellent addition to the squad and a leader
both on the field, in the locker room, and across campus."
VanEs, the daughter of John and Betty VanEs, plans to pursue a career in
medicine through her education at Trevecca.
VanEs joins Jessica Porter (Columbia, Tenn.), Bekah Headrick (Aaron Christian),
Hope Hackney (Wilson Central) and Taylor Beaulieu (Ezell-Harding) in this
year's recruiting class.
