ROME, Ga. - The Trevecca women's golf team finished play
in the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational at the Stone Bridge Golf Club and
finished eighth of 13 teams. Betsy Beaver was the top Trojans and finished 18th
overall. The course played to a par of 72 over 5813 yards. There were 73
golfers and 13 teams competing
Battling rain-soaked conditions and only four of their
five golfers on the trip, Trevecca tallied 360-348=708 with a 12-stroke
improvement on day two.
Betsy Beaver posted a 84-79=163 for 18th place overall.
Ashley Birdwell placed 26th after carding a 86-79=165. Alyssa Moe (87-90=177)
and Maddie Privott (103-100=203) rounded out the Trojans efforts.
With three players finishing in the top-six, the Shorter
College women's golf team was able to hold off the competition and win the 2009
Chick-fil-a Women's Golf Invitational. The Lady Hawks finished five strokes
ahead of the field at the tournament hosted by Berry College.
The entire field was looking up to Adriana Saavedra from
South Carolina at Beaufort. Saavedra fired a 74 on Tuesday to finish with a
score of 78-74=152 and earn low-medalist honors. Jessica Smith from Lindsey
Wilson finished second, using her consistent play to finish with a two-day
total of 77-76=153.
The next match for the Trevecca team is October 12-13
when the Trojans host the Trevecca Fall Challenge at the Old Hickory Country
Club in Old Hickory, Tenn. The Trojans will host Lindsey Wilson College,
University of the Cumberlands, University of Mobile, Lindenwood University,
Bethel University, Cumberland University,
